my stay was almost pleasant, but I couldn't overlook the lack of internet despite it being advertised, & the shower was like a mini obstacle course with its high sides. after those inconveniences, one would think a complimentary upgrade or at least a warm welcome would be in order, sadly, it wasn't! absolutely ridiculous!

Street noise can be quite annoying!!! The restrictions on food odors are not ideal, especially in a seafood-loving town!!! The absence of adequate ventilation for cooking may limit culinary options!!!

stayed at the gateway for two nights in a lovely standard two-bedroom apartment. the bathroom was spacious with a great shower. the unit was clean and comfortably furnished. we also enjoyed the friendly service from the staff who were knowledgeable about local dining options.

I stayed in a Deluxe One-Bedroom Apartment that was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had a full size fridge and was equipped for self-catering. The bathroom was impressive with plenty of space. The staff were incredibly helpful, changing my room to the ground floor without asking, which was greatly appreciated. The outdoor balcony offered great views, adding to the experience too.

The outdoor pool and BBQ facilities were great for unwinding after a day out, but I was a bit hesitant about cooking due to some rules. Just a heads-up for anyone, check the cooking guidelines if you plan on making full meals! 🌞

Recommend it for families with children

Kathy was just great, she changed our room to the ground floor without us even asking. Plus, the information book had all the vital contacts for emergencies—very helpful when we needed it.

It wasn't exactly a bargain but considering all, it was acceptable.

great proximity to kaikaurian attractions and walking areas

i had a fantastic time at this place, the owners were super friendly and accommodating. It's just a short walk to the kaikoura museum and the beautiful beaches, making it perfect for a weekend of exploring.

We had a fantastic stay in the Deluxe One-Bedroom Apartment at Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge. The apartment was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with a good-sized fridge and oven. We enjoyed the lovely balcony with views of the town and the bay. The swimming pool and laundry facilities were well maintained, making our stay even more pleasant.

The only downside was the inability to use a frying pan on the hobs due to past incidents.
